On Dec 4th 2019, Shenhua Ningxia Coal -Saudi Arabia Basic Industry Corp JV 700kt/a coal to olefin novel material project environment impact data were presented for public awareness.
Construction site of the project is in coal chemical park (zone A) of Ningdong Energy Chemical Production Base, Ningxia. Budgetary capital on the project, a sum of CNY22bn, is composed of 20.445bn on construction and 1.766bn on environment expense. The project will use coal as raw material to produce 2Mt/a methanol, which further convert to polymer grade ethylene and propylene, and eventually to 100kt/a ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA), 210kt/a low-density polyethylene (LDPE), 35kt/a ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), and 400kt/a polypropylene, as well as the byproducts of sulfur and ammonium sulfate etc. Construction scope shall cover accessory storage & transport, utility, auxiliary and environment facilities.
