In 2018, the international oil price was in the range of 60-80USD/bbl, and the petrochemical products market performed well overall. With the further opening of the petrochemical industry's foreign investment policy, ExxonMobil, BASF announced that they will build large-scale petrochemical projects in China. With the advancement of refinery integration, CTO, PDH, ethane cracking projects, continuous application of new technologies, further participation of state-owned enterprises, private enterprises, and multinational giants, the diversified development of olefin feedstock presents a magnificent scene.
At the same time, the olefins feedstock diversification also faces challenges. Trade friction between China and US has increased the uncertainty of petrochemical projects for imported raw materials. The situation of the US ethane resources is unclear, and the price changes greatly, which affect several ethane cracking projects in China. ASIACHEM data shows that, about 15Mt newly built ethylene will be put into operation in the North America during 2018-2025, and the impact on the Chinese market must be emphasized.
Under the new situation, how will large-scale projects such as state-owned enterprises, private enterprises, and multinational giants' naphtha olefins, CTO/MTO, PDH, and ethane cracking develop? How will crude oil directly produces olefins, natural gas directly produces olefins, syngas directly produces olefins, and technologies such as new generation CTO compete in the future?
Olefins Feedstock Diversification Forum 2019 will be held on Mar. 27-28 in Guangzhou. The upcoming event will discuss the national petrochemical planning & feedstock diversification outlook 2019-2024; Petrochemical industry opportunities and challenges under the background of global trade friction; North America, Asia and China olefins competitiveness; ASEAN market and “B&R” olefins industry chain new opportunities; Different feedstock route technologies and economy; Project planning and latest development; Ethane cracking risk and benefits; New technologies R&D and pilot, etc. Industrial visit will also be arranged.
