Background

PA66 (Nylon 66), was invented by DuPont in 1935. In recent years, the application of nylon 66 engineering plastics and films has grown rapidly worldwide. The automotive has become the largest consumer market for PA66 engineering plastics, followed by electronics.

The main producers of PA66 are INVISTA, Rhodia, BASF, and Asahi Kasei. INVISTA is the world's leading producer of PA66 polymer and core raw material adiponitrile (ADN). In February 2019, INVISTA launched the design of a 400,000-ton adiponitrile production base in Shanghai, which is scheduled to start production in 2022. China's PA66 production lead by Pingmei Shenma. China’s local AND technologies & commercialization are ongoing.

PA6 (Nylon 6), is mainly used in synthetic fibers and plastics. PA6 and the key raw material caprolactam are relatively mature in China. By the end of 2018, China's PA6 production capacity has exceeded 4 Mt/a. Caprolactam production capacity is also growing rapidly.

PA66/PA6 & Feedstocks Tech & Market Forum 2019 will be held in Suzhou on December 5-6.
