9th China Coal to Olefins Conference 2017

Background

-- Focusing on capacity expanding in West China

From 2016 to 2017, the WTI oil price was at the range of 45-50 USD/barrel. In H1 2017, China's coal-to-olefins (CTO) typical demonstration projects have more than 100% operation load (excluded maintenance), coal based polyolefin plants remain profitable, and still attract massive capital investment continuously.

ASIACHEM’s study shows that from 2017 to 2021, more than 20 CTO/MTO projects will be planned or constructed. Northwest China is the focus, has Shenhua, ChinaCoal, Yanchang, Shenhua Ningxia coal, Baofeng, Zhongtian Hechuang and other key projects has been put into operation. In coming years, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Guizhou, Yunnan will also vigorously develop CTO projects.
