Sinopec Distributes Liquid Hydrogen Factory, Baling Co. 60t/d Liquid Hydrogen Demonstration Project Settles in Hunan Yueyang

Apr 28, 2020, Hunan Yueyang hydrogen energy industry project signing ceremony was held. Among, Sinopec Baling Petrochemical and Hunan Nuclear Power would co-invest CNY 1.1bn, constructing liquid hydrogen factory. The factory demonstration project will fully utilize Baling Petrochemical caprolactam (CPL) production line surplus industrial byproduct hydrogen, within Yueyang Green Chemical Park, constructing the 60t/d liquid hydrogen factory, and would be construction by 2 phases.

 

ASIACHEM data shows that, production process of CPL needs large amount of hydrogen. Before, 400kt/a CPL project of Fujian Shen Yuanxin Material, which was operation in 2017, matched 75000Nm3/h hydrogen and 250kt/a ammonia devices. ASIACHEM believes that, the petrochemical and coal chemical industry fully utilize the current-existed chemical production devices and the industrial byproduct hydrogen resources and actively distribute hydrogen energy industrial chain have great futures.

 

Besides, Yueyang would make breakthroughs on liquid hydrogen production, storage and transportation key technologies, cultivate China liquid hydrogen industry high-end device manufacturing industry, realize the localization substitution of liquid hydrogen devices and technologies, the project investment is about CNY 300M; planning to construct 1000kg/d liquid hydrogen demonstration HRS priority in Yueyang; in the long term, distribute 5-10 liquid hydrogen HRS in Wuhan-Xiangtan section of Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Highway, and construct China first liquid hydrogen highway, investment is about CNY 200M.

Apr 28, 2020, Hongda Xingye released announcement, hydrogen liquefaction factory project of the company has finished construction, installation and debugging etc., now it has completion & operation. Information shows that, this civil-use liquid hydrogen factory locates in Inner Mongolia Wuhai, annual producing about 180t liquid hydrogen. On the morning of Apr 25, 2020, after system linkage test, the factory commissioned successfully, liquid hydrogen was produced successfully.

 

Dec 2019, China Electronics Engineering Design Institute, Beijing Hydrosys, Zhejiang University College of Energy Engineering, China National Institute of Standardization, Beijing Aerospace Propulsion Institute, CAS Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Beijing Institute of Aerospace Testing Technology, CHN Energy National Institute of Clean-and-Low-Carbon Energy, China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Beijing Sinoscience Fullcryo Technology and Zhejiang Energy Group set-up China first liquefied hydrogen collaborative innovation consortium. This innovation consortium will focus on key core technologies of liquefied hydrogen field, launch industry-academia-research-use cooperation of research, manufacture, test, detection and industrialization of liquefied hydrogen technologies and equipment, assist industry standard development and policy research, lead China liquefied hydrogen technology R&D, standard formulation, detection evaluation and technical service and promote liquefied hydrogen technology and industry independent development.

Liquid hydrogen storage and transportation have entered large-scale application stage.
