CREC Huineng Dongle north beach 50MW/200MWh all vanadium redox flow battery Independent Shared Energy Storage Project Connected to the Grid

2024-01-29

On January 29th, the CREC Huineng Dongle north beach 100MW photovoltaic project+50MW/200MWH independent shared energy storage project was successfully connected to the grid. The Dongle north beach 100MW photovoltaic project belongs to the second batch of wind and solar power generation projects in Zhangye City, Gansu Province during the 14th Five Year Plan period. The independent shared energy storage project planned to be constructed simultaneously is the largest commercial all vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) energy storage project in China and the first commercial VRFB energy storage project of CREC.

The CREC Huineng Dongle north beach 100MW photovoltaic project is located in Shandan County, Zhangye City, Gansu Province, covering an area of about 3000 acres. The total installed capacity of the project is 100MW, and the plan is to simultaneously build a 250MW/1000MWh energy storage power station and a 110kV booster station. The scale of this grid connection is 100MW photovoltaic and the first phase 50MW/200MWH energy storage project.

The independent shared energy storage project can simultaneously meet the requirements of energy storage power and charging time for multiple new energy power stations. It has fast and accurate power response capabilities and provides various services such as peak shaving, frequency regulation, backup, black start, and demand response support for power grid operation. It can significantly improve the consumption level of local renewable energy and help solve the short-term power imbalance problem of regional power grids.

After the project is fully put into operation, it can save about 60000 tons of standard coal annually, reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by over 200000 tons, carbon dioxide emissions by over 150000 tons, and increase the consumption of new energy electricity by about 300 million kilowatt hours. This will contribute to the optimization of the local new energy industry layout structure, the integration of power grid sources, grid load storage, and the complementary development of multiple energy sources.
