ASIACHEM estimates that, in 2018, China NEV production and sales will exceed 1.1M.
China Vehicle Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance data shows that, from Jan to Oct 2018, China power battery accumulated production reaches 53.1GWh, among, ternary material battery accumulated produces 29.2GWh, while LFP 23.1GWh. ASIACHEM estimates that, in 2018, China power battery total output will reach 72GWh.

Mar 2018, Phylion Battery Suzhou & Chuzhou Modern Industry Park Project signing ceremony was held in Anhui Chuzhou.
The project plans to total invest CNY 10bn, will be construction by 4 phases. Among, Phase-1 invests CNY 3bn and capacity is 6GWh/a, will construction and operation in Q2, 2019; Phase-2 plans to construction by end of 2020, after construction, it will own 12 production lines and have 13GWh/a power battery production capacity; total product construction will wholly completion in 2022, when construction, capacity will reach 25GWh/a.
Apr 2018, Sichuan Energy Investment Huading Guolian Power Battery Industrial Base commencement ceremony was held in Sichuan Chengdu. The project total investment is CNY 10bn and will be construction by 4 phases, and estimated to wholly completion in 2021, by that time, it will form a production base of 10GWh/a power battery and 50kt/a battery material.
Jun 2018, Jiangsu Tafel New Energy Technology signed cooperation agreement with Hunan Changde Government. According to the agreement, the company new increased 15GWh/a power battery project settles in Hunan Changde. The project Phase-1 plans to invest CNY 1.5bn, will construct 1.5GWh/a capacity production line and plan to operation in Q1, 2019.
Jun 2018, BYD Qinghai Nanchuan Battery Factory Phase-1 10GWh/a power battery project put into operation. The whole project plans to fully operation in 2019, by that time, Qinghai BYD annual capacity will reach 24GWh.

Sep 2018, BYD 30GWh/a power battery project signing ceremony was held in Shaanxi Xi’an High-tech Zone. Information shows that, the project total investment is CNY 12bn.
Oct 2018, Farasis Energy Zhenjiang Manufacturing Base held foundation stone laying ceremony in Jiangsu Zhenjiang New District. Jan 2018, Great Wall Motor constructed a brand new EV R&D Center in Austria. This center would be responsible for EV electric engines and related controlling system’s R&D work. Great Wall Motor planned to increase investment of this center to EU 20M before 2020.
Mar 27, 2018, Capchem released announcement, the company planned to invest and construct Poland Capchem LIB Materials Project in Wroclaw, Poland. Exploiting entity of this project is Capchem (Poland) Co. Ltd. Sp.z.o.o. Jul 2018, CATL and Germany Thuringia Government signed an investment agreement. According to the agreement, CATL will invest EU 240M (about CNY 1.87bn) to set up a battery production base and an intelligent manufacturing technology R&D center in Erfurt. Mar 2018, Panasonic news stated that, the company vehicle used prismatic LIB factory which locates in Dalian, Liaoning held supply ceremony, started mass production and supply.
Aug 2018, Murata New Energy held completion ceremony of new factory in Jiangsu Wuxi. Building investment of this factory is about JPY 16bn, and estimates to operation in Jan 2019, annual capacity can reach 132M units of LIB, and will make battery capacity and output value of Wuxi Factory enlarge 1.6 times on the existing basis.
Aug 2018, SK Innovation announced that, it would invest and construct power battery factory in Jiangsu Changzhou. The factory estimates to annual produce 7.5GWh battery.
Oct 2018, SK Innovation would invest KRW 400bn (CNY 2.44bn), to construct separator factory in Jiangsu Changzhou. The factory covers 4 LIB separator production lines and 3 ceramic coating separator production lines, capacity are 340Mm2/a LIB separator and 130Mm2/a ceramic coating separator. The factory is estimated to operation in 2020.
Oct 2018, LG Chem power battery factory project started construction in Jiangsu Jiangning Binjiang Development Zone. The project total investment is USD 2bn, mainly producing power batteries, energy storage batteries and small batteries. The factory planned to construct 23 electrodes and cores production lines, among, 16 power battery production lines, 3 energy storage battery production lines and 4 small battery production lines. It is estimated that, Phase-1 of the project will realize mass production in Q4, 2019, and whole project will fully reach designed capacity in 2023. After reaching designed capacity, it will annual produce 32GWh power batteries.
Oct 2018, Holland battery manufacturer Lithium Werks BV announced that, the company would joint invest and construct a LIB factory in Yangtze Delta Area with Zhejiang Jiashan Economic and Technological Development Zone Industry Corp. Information shows that, the factory plans to invest EU 1.6bn, capacity is 8GWh/a and plans to operation at the beginning of 2021. This will be the company 2nd production base in China.
