Hydrogen Production, Storage and Infrastructure Forum 2019

Background

Hydrogen production, storage and transportation and hydrogen refueling station (HRS) etc. infrastructures play important roles in development of hydrogen energy industry. March 2019, hydrogen energy was written in the <Report on the Work of the Government 2019> for the first time, proposing to ‘Promote construction of charging, hydrogen refueling etc. facilities.’ <Yangtze Delta Hydrogen Corridor Construction Development Plan> released in May 2019 proposed that, by 2030, Yangtze Delta Area will have more than 200k fuel cell vehicles (FCV), 500 HRS, cover more than 20 thruways and hydrogen corridor realize full coverage linkage.

 

Cost of renewable energy power generation has the potential to continuous decreasing. Shell German refinery 1300t/a PEM water electrolysis to hydrogen device expected to be construction in 2020. In the future, large-scale water electrolysis to hydrogen base on the renewable energies will become the main hydrogen sources of hydrogen energy industry. <Fuel Specifications for Proton Exchange Membrane FCV – Hydrogen> national standard implements in Jul 2019. In current stage, cheap industrial byproduct hydrogen resources, which use propane dehydrogenation, ethane cracking and coal chemical etc., support the large-scale application of fuel cells and benefit for the industrial chain rapidly decreasing costs.

 

Storage and transportation methods of hydrogen mainly are the high-pressure gaseous hydrogen, liquefied hydrogen, liquid organic hydrogen storage and metal hybrid hydrogen storage etc. High-pressure gaseous hydrogen storage is the most widely used currently, commonly have 35MPa and 70MPa. To large-scale hydrogen storage and transportation, liquefied hydrogen has advantages on safety, hydrogen storage volume, cost, capacity expansion and hydrogen quality. In Jun 2019, <FCV Used Fuel Liquefied Hydrogen> etc. 3 national standards seek for suggestions, it is estimated that liquefied hydrogen series national standards will be released shortly.

 

Each place of China is actively promoting construction of hydrogen energy infrastructures now. Jun 2019, Shanghai Jiading implemented supporting policy, to HRS which refueling pressure ≥70MPa (compatible with 35MPa included), giving CNY 5M subsidy. In the same month, Shanghai Chemical Park HRS, the world largest FCV full scene application HRS, settled, hydrogen refueling capacity 1920kg/d, China first pipeline hydrogen transportation HRHRS.sssSSHsdsSSSFSFHRS. <China Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Industry White Book> (2019) shows that, by 2035, China HRS will reach 1500.


Hydrogen Production, Storage and Infrastructure Forum 2019 will be held on 20-21 November in Shanghai, China.
